Thank you for registering for Orthodatum and subscribing to our service! I created this product specifically for you—the healthcare professional who is in the OR every day, working to improve the lives of the patients they care for. Our goal is to use components of AI technology to give you a better way to manage and access your preference cards, create visual instrument layouts, and reference the surgical techniques you use, so you can prepare better, work more efficiently, and reduce the waste associated with traditional preference cards.

On this page, you’ll find basic instructions to help you get started. The system is meant to be highly customizable, and you will find your own way to use it over time. If you have any questions or suggestions, we’d love to hear from you!

Thank you,
Bob Drinkrow

Download Instructions

After you subscribe, we review your account and approve your license before issuing and emailing your initial product key. Released downloads for your edition will appear on the Downloads page once the required approvals are complete. Your first 365-day license term begins when you first activate the key in Orthodatum, rather than on the purchase date. If you choose auto-renewal, your existing product key is renewed and access reactivates automatically after confirmed payment when Orthodatum next checks your license online. Keep your product key safe: write it down, save the email, or store it in a secure note. We do not store recoverable product keys on this website; Keygen handles key validation. Our zero document retention policy applies to your document library, rather than your account or licensing records.

Full Precision Version

For PCs, there are two options for installing this version, and both need a minimum of 12 GB of GPU memory (VRAM). One option pins both AI models on the GPU. This option has the best performance, and a 16 GB NVIDIA GPU is recommended. A 12 GB GPU should work on most systems, depending on how many monitors you use and what other apps use the video card. The second option is a CPU/GPU split installation. This uses well under 12 GB of VRAM and gives you more headroom if you need it or encounter a memory error installing it the other way. It has the same precision but is slower and uses more of your system RAM than VRAM. During installation, you’ll have a drop-down menu to choose how you want to install it.

The fastest way to check your hardware is to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select Task Manager. On the left sidebar, click Performance—the icon that looks like a chart.

Contact us or your IT department if you have any questions. Do not try to install the split version on an 8 GB video card without direct IT assistance or supervision during installation. It is not recommended, but could work in some circumstances. If you have an 8 GB video card, it is recommended that you use the Light Version until you can upgrade your hardware.

Light Version

The Light Version has two installation options in one installer: CPU/GPU split and Keyword only.

The CPU/GPU split is the same as the Full Precision installation, except that the model installed on the GPU is compressed so it can run normally on an 8 GB video card. This version allows natural language questions on a system with less VRAM. It is less accurate when you ask a question and may not land on the page of the surgical technique you want as frequently as the Full Precision Version, but it will likely be fine unless you have a vast library of surgical techniques.

The Keyword only option is the lightest and fastest solution and should work on most PCs. It uses only the CPU and searches by keyword only. You won’t be able to ask natural language questions, and you may need a few extra clicks to find what you need.

You can still use remote access with the Light Version, and the Enterprise Version can still be accessed across your local network. With the Keyword only option, you can still add your surgical techniques and build your library, but it will search differently: the model won’t read the text or look at the pictures for you. Instead of asking it a question, you would enter something similar to “Dr. Jones, back table, xbrand total knee.” You can always upgrade down the road when you get another PC.

Adding Documents

Log in as the account administrator and click the document-management link in the upper right. From there, you can drag and drop documents or select the files you want to add. You can add multiple documents at one time. Be sure to fill out the metadata fields described below for each document type.

Preference Cards / Instrument Layouts

Add the name of the scrub tech, RN, or surgeon the card applies to. This creates a searchable subtitle to help make searches faster and more accurate. The download package includes a preference-card template and instructions for using it.

One powerful way to use this feature is to have your vendor representative come in for an in-service, arrange the instruments the way the surgeon wants them laid out, and take a picture. The template lets you show a back table and Mayo stand on one landing page, so the tech can view both while scrubbed in.

Surgical Techniques

Another powerful tool is to have your vendor representative bring a USB drive containing the surgical techniques your surgeon uses. Fill in the Manufacturer and Product fields; the surgeon’s name is optional for these documents.

Once these techniques are embedded, you can ask a question such as “How do I size the femur for a brand X total knee?” Orthodatum can take you to the relevant page of the approved technique, including the picture. This is useful for remote access the night before, for new staff, or as a refresher after setup, before a case.

Enterprise Versions

Enterprise versions have an extra tab with options for your IT department to set up local-network access. Orthodatum uses a port for other computers to connect to the host PC. Think of the host’s IP address and port together as its phone number.

IT can change the port if needed and may need to allow that connection through the facility’s firewall.

IT should give the host PC a fixed IP address, so its address stays the same after a restart or update. On other computers connected to the same network, by Wi-Fi or cable, enter the host address and port provided by IT into the browser. You can then bookmark it or create a desktop shortcut.

Node Installer

This is an option for larger facilities where several people use Orthodatum at the same time and you want faster performance. It is optional and requires a second PC.

You’ll likely want help from IT. The node package includes separate setup instructions.
